Building Electrician Course
Building electricians install and maintain electricity cables and other electrical infrastructure in buildings.This Course intends to provide skills and knowledge on house wiring works related to the occupation. This Course deals with Concept of wiring, Electrical instruments and their application, Symbols and codes identification,Electrical drawing reading, interpretation and drawing,Design and installation of various pattern of wiring system.
Once the trainees acquired the competencies they will have ample opportunity for employment and self-employment through which they will contribute in the national streamline of poverty reduction in the country. The skills and knowledge included in this curriculum improve their knowledge and skills and make them competent building electrician needed for the occupation. The major feature of the curriculum is to incorporate the drop-out youths who have only Secondary level schooling experience.
Aim
The main aim of this program is to produce employable building electricians who could provide house wiring services in the public and residential buildings of the construction industries in the country and abroad.
Target Group
The target group for this training program will be all interested individuals with educational prerequisite of minimum class eight class pass & Minimum of 18 years of age.
Certificate
The related training institute will provide the certificate of “Building Electrician” to those trainees who successfully complete all the requirements as prescribed by the curriculum.
Objectives
After completion of training the trainees will be able to:
- Perform basic calculation & State the concept of electricity.
- Apply electrical instruments for measuring resistance, voltage, current and power.
- Identify and interpret electrical symbols and codes.
- Install and connect accessories, fittings, protective devices and distribution board.
- Install and control various pattern of wiring system and connect earthing electrode.
- Repair and replace components of damaged wiring system.
- Control/install electricity generation in two phase.
- Carryout a complete wiring system.
- Be familiar with occupational health and apply safe working technique .
Course Description
This course intends to provide skills and knowledge on house wiring works related to the occupation. This course deals with concept of wiring,electrical instruments and their application, various calculations, electrical drawing interpretation, symbol identification, design and installation of various pattern of wiring system, repair and replacement of damaged wiring components and installation and connection of earthling electrode.

Part One: Practical
- Preparing electrical cable Safe use of hand tools
- Terminating cable and forming joints Install junction box
- Build basic electrical circuits
- Fabrication techniques for electrical installation Build one-way lighting circuit
- Build two way lighting circuit Build a consumer unit Consumer unit inspection Install an electric cooker circuit Install main protective bonding Ring main socket installation
- Add spurs onto ring final socket installation Install SELV lighting circuit
- Use testing equipment to recorded of results Dead and Live testing of Installations
Part Two: Theory
- Health and safety in workplace
- Health and Safety for electrical installations in domestic property Electrical supply systems
- Cable types, equipment identification Understand lighting and power circuit installation Safe Isolation
- Electrical formulas
- Introduction to inspection and testing Consumer units and protection devices
Part Two: Skills Gained
- How to safely use electricians tools
- Install cable through a range of installation methods Install lighting circuits
- Install cable for an electric cooker Build, check and test a consumer unit Dead test your installations

Course Duration: Regular Course-45Days & Short Course-15 Days
Training Time: 2 Hours Per day(Theory 20% + Practical 80%)
